With SuperCare Dental, you can pay for essential dental treatments using your superannuation. SuperCare is an Australian company that helps access Early Release of Super to pay for essential dental treatments. SuperCare streamlines the application process required to access superannuation to pay for dental procedures as are necessary for yourself or your dependents, e.g. your spouse, partner or your child.

SuperCare is not a superannuation fund nor a financial services company. It is a type of funding assistance that allows patients to access their superannuation funds early so they can pay for the dental procedure they require.

What dental treatments can be paid for with my superannuation fund?

There are specific criteria for the Early Release of Super program which you must adhere to. Jacaranda Family Dental works strictly within the guidelines of what’s required. They choose not to participate in the ERS program for purely cosmetic dental procedures, such as dental veneers or teeth whitening. They will only participate in the ERS for treatments that will improve the health and function of your teeth, such as:
 

  • Braces
  • Invisalign
  • Dental Implants
  • Wisdom Teeth removal
  • Fillings, White Fillings
  • Childrens dentistry
  • Mouthguards, Retainers, Whitening
  • Crown and bridge
  • Extractions
  • Inlays, Onlays
  • Root Canal Treatment

Pay for Dental Care Using Super

What are my options for paying for dental care with my superannuation?

The ATO’s Early Release of Superannuation (ERS) program is designed to give you access to your super on compassionate grounds in certain circumstances. If you’re considering accessing your superannuation to pay for critical dental work, there are two main options: either “Do It Yourself” and apply through the ATO or engage an agency such as SuperCare to help you through the process. SuperCare is an Australian company that helps access Early Release of Super to pay for essential dental treatments. Here’s what you need to know before you decide:

1. Arranging Early Release of Super through an agency:

At Jacaranda Family Dental, the Dental Coordinators will happily work with any agency, although they’ve worked most closely with SuperCare. They’ve noticed that SuperCare has a proven track record of being very helpful with their patients and has been very successful in accessing their super. SuperCare streamlines the application process required to access superannuation to pay for dental procedures as necessary for yourself or your dependents, e.g., your spouse, partner, or your child.

If you choose to go through an agency, you’ll need to begin by coming in for an initial examination and consultation. This initial examination and consultation will allow the dentists to confirm the state and health of your teeth, and provide a treatment plan and associated costs which you’ll need to make your application.

You must have two doctors supporting your application: one Dentist and one GP. SuperCare will help you find a GP to see as part of your application. You’ll pay around $700 to $800 to SuperCare for their assistance, whereas if you go the “DIY” route, there’s no fee. This fee is returned to you if you aren’t successful in retrieving your super.

2. Organising Early Release of Super yourself:

If you decide to go the ‘DIY’ route, you can download the ERS paperwork yourself. You can fill out the forms and bring them to Jacaranda Family Dental. Along with your initial consultation as above, they will have to perform an extra report for you which costs approximately $50. You can then submit your completed paperwork to the ATO for their processing. These fees are subject to change.
